Description
The Land of Mist by Arthur Conan Doyle, first edition/impression published by Hutchinson in 1926. The book is clean, complete, square and tightly bound with no foxing. There is a neat inscription to the inside of the front board, a small booksellers sticker to the inside of the rear board and one short tear/knock to the edge of the front board. The dust jacket is the original to the book. It has benefited from some expert professional restoration, mainly to the spine ends. It is inevitably slightly discoloured due to its age, but is complete with no chips or tears. A classic professor Challenger novel, following on from the Lost World, it is heavily influenced by Conan Doyles well documented obsession with spiritualism. It is extremely rare to find a copy with an original wrapper, I am aware of no other copies currently available and I can find no record of a copy having been sold at any of the major auction houses in the last ten years. This being the case, it is quite a difficult book to place a value on. I have based the current asking price on other similarly rare titles by equally collectable authors of similar vintage.
