Description
Antique Chinese Drop Front Desk Featured in the Richard Plumer room at the Palm Beach Red Cross Decorator Show House! See on back wall in picture below.... Officially, the above room from the Palm Beach Show House was credited to Richard Plumer Designs, but it was actually the last Show House room done by Jack Fhillips when he managed Richard Plumer Designs. Jack Fhillips is now a renowned designer based in Palm Beach, with projects all over the world. I bought this desk from Richard Plumer after the Palm Beach Designer Show House was over. After moving from my house to a condo, I've kept it in a storage unit for years, isn't that silly? I told the staff at the Space Plus air-conditioned storage to never tell me, EVER, how much I have spent in total on the d*&^ storage. It will finally be empty at the end of January. The show house was in 1992, I paid $1850 for the desk then.Antiques are supposed to escalate in value, but I am anzious to clear out the excess furniture, at this price even a dealer could still make a profit on it.See picture below. The flash on my camera makes the inside look lighter than the outside. It's pretty much uniform in color. There is a chip on the front edge of the top. It was there when I bought it. Gives it character. The flash on my camera makes it looks lighter,in actuality, it is the same color as the desk and 'disappears' when you are not looking for it. Desk measures 47" t X 34" w and 15" d. What kind of wood are Chinese antiques made of? It's dark wood, with great Chinese carvings on the doors. The front drops down and the inside is filled with little cubby-holes for organizing your correspondence. I'm hoping for local pick up on this. Maybe it will go back to Palm Beach? If you like it, and can make your own moving arrangements, I'll be glad to cooperate with scheduling, but I have nooooo time to make your moving arrangements. I have a very demanding day job, can't get on the phone for personal calls during business hours. I heard uship.com is a very reasonable way to move things. If you want to check, this is at zip code 33301. And it's lightweight. I'll bet under 100 pounds. Thanks for looking. Email me with questions.
