Luis Dupre was born in Seine et Oise in 1789. He apprenticed in the School of Jean-Luis David, the official painter of Napoleon. In February 1819 he visits the Greek areas with three English sightseers (Heyet, Hay and Viwian). They would undertake the expenses, and he would deliver to them in return, pictures of the monuments and the places of the country. The four travellers run through Corfu, the Greek Mainland, Thessaly, Sterea, the outskirts of Attica and the islands of Saronikos. They separated when Duprè continued his tour in Constantinople (Istanbul) and then, invited by Prince Michael Soutsos, in Bucharest, while the three sightseers returned in England. The tour finishes for him in 1820 with his return in Rome. His work from Greece was published in 1825 in the great travelling chronicle "Voyage à Athènes et à Constantinople ou collection de portraits, de vues et de costumes Grecs et Ottomans peints sur les lieux, d `après nature, lithographiès et coloriès par L.Duprè èlève de David", and in the "Album Grece" which was published after his death in 1837. pratir Store
